Denk, John L. "Jack" (1934? – 13 SEP 2017)

John L. “Jack” Denk Sr., 83, Waukesha, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, with his family by his side. A visitation will be held from 9-10:45 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 22, with the memorial Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, S38 W31602 Hwy D, Genesee Depot. Rev. Dan Volkert will officiate. The burial will take place immediately following the Mass at St. Paul Cemetery.

John was born in Greenwood, the son of William and Mary Denk. He married the love of his life, Shirley Rasmussen, on Oct. 3, 1959. He was a proud United States Army Veteran from October 1954 to October 1956; he spent that time in Germany. Jack was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Genesee Depot and worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and golf. Most of all, he loved to sing, and sang in a barbershop chorus through the years, with the St. Paul Choir for 50 years, and in a quartet for 18 years.

Jack will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley, of 58 years; their children: Scott A.(Lindsay Sayles) Denk, Mark Denk, John L. Denk Jr., Jeanne M. Denk, Timothy J. (Cori) Denk, and Julie A. (Tad) Denk; eight grandchildren: Justin Broberg, Morgan Denk, Sam Denk, Sydney Denk, Zachary Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Cale Denk and Zoe Denk; a great-grandson, Samuel Dominic Orozco; one brother, Ronald (Mary Jo) Denk; one sister-in-law, Beverly Denk; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James D. Denk; and his siblings: Gerald (Annie) Denk, Donald (Margie) Denk, Marion (Archie) Lyons, Dorothy (Victor) Wagner, Leonard (Mary) Denk, Virgil (Geraldine) Denk, Bernard Denk, and William (Marcy) Denk.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wales-Genesee Lions Club, S42 W31400 Highway 83, Genesee Depot, WI 53127 or St. Paul Catholic Church (see address above) would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice and the Visiting Angels Staff for the compassionate care they gave to Jack.
