Holme, Karen Kristine (24 JAN 1970)
Miss Karen Kristine Holme, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holme of Nevis,
Minnesota, became the bride of Mr. Louis Stanley Kowieski, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Kowieski of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, Saturday, January 24, 1970 at the
Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. The Reverend Robert Loftus performed the
double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladiolas.
Accompanied to the altar by her father, the bride chose a princes styled gown of
white brocade accented by small buttons down the front of the gown, and a
mandarin neckline. Her chapel length train extending from the waist, was loped
into a huge bow for the reception, and her bouffant veil held by a crown of
pearls was of chapel length. She carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and
forget-me-nots with tiny rose buds on white streamers.
Peggy Holme, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and serving as bridesmaids
were Judy Anderson of Shakopee, aunt of the bride, Sherrie Brown of Minneapolis,
and Barbara Caturia of Menominee, both friends of the bride. They wore red
velvet floor length gowns styled with red satin and antique white lace edged
panel trains and satin cuffs, and collars also edged in antique white lace.
Their headpieces were short red veils held with red satin, and they carried
bouquets of pink carnations with red satin ribbons and soft cedar greens.
Serving as best man was Paul Kowieski, brother of the groom, and the groomsmen
were Edmund and George Kowieski, brothers of the groom, and Arthur Balicki of
Milwaukee, friend of the groom. The ushers were James Trybula and Irving Senger
of Milwaukee, friends of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception for friends and relatives was held by the
bride's parents in the Continental Room of the Normandy Motor Inn.
