Lavey, Sherry Ann (Marriage – 17 August 1974)
Mis Sherry Ann Lavey became the bride of Dennis Lee Rogstad in a 12:30 p.m.
ceremony performed Saturday, August 17, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal,
with the Rev. Robert Houston of St. Stephan’s Catholic Church, Chili, and the
Rev. Chester Osowski of St. Anthony’s officiating. A reception was held at Bali
Hai Supper Club.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. David Lavey. Granton; and Mr. and Mrs.
Vern Rogstad, Loyal.
The bride appeared in an empire-style, A-line silhouette gown of white crepe
trimmed with venise lace and detailed with a high neckline of lace, a sheer
yoke, fitted, lace trimmed sleeves scalloped hemline and chapel length train.
Her cathedral length veil was caught by a pearl-trimmed venise lace Camelot
headpiece. She carried a cascade of red sweetheart roses, phalaenopsis orchids,
pink miniature carnations, and Baby’s breath as she was presented in marriage by
her father.
Shelly Lavey, sister of the bride, was her maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were
Marilyn Rogstad of Alexandria, VA., Sandy Wesenberg, Lynne Guenther of Mosinee,
and Kathy LaBarge. Ruffles accented the V-neckline of their puffed-sleeve,
double knit gowns, and additional ruffling created a feminine, bodice-bolero
effect. Hues were lavender, yellow, pink, mint green, and apricot, respectively.
Each carried a nosegay of multi-colored daisies, pom, and baby’s breath to
coordinate with her dress color, and wore colored daisies in her hair.
The groom’s attendants included Steve Rogstad of Loyal, brother of the groom, as
bestman, and Terry Rogstad of Alexandria, Va., another brother, together with
Jeff Lavey, Dennis Rollins, and Randy Pachel, as groomsmen. Guests were seated
by Don Mahoney, Jerry Rollins, Buddy Barten, and Micky Weyhmiller.
Todd Barten of Wisconsin Rapids, cousin of the groom, served as ringbearer. The
brides’ godchild, Kay Pernsteiner, was the flower girl.
Music at the wedding was by Jodi Schoonover, Mrs. Allen Schoonover, Mrs. Jerry
Anderegg, and Miss Judy Zettler.
The bride was honored at two pre-nuptial showers. Barb Quicker was hostess for a
surprise shoer July 17, and a July 30 shower was hostessed by the bridesmaids.
A 1972 graduate of Granton High School, the new Mrs. Rogstad has been employed
in the usher department at the Marshfield Clinic. Her husband graduated from
Loyal High School in 1972, and from North Central Technical Institute, Wausau,
in 1974. He is employed as a designer for a Beaver Dam firm.
Following their return from a wedding trip to Door County and Mackinac Island,
the couple will live in Beaver Dam.
