Zimmerman, Martin C.A. – Rev. (1 DEC 1900 – 21 APR 1970)
Rev. Martin Carl A. Zimmerman, 69, of 3210 North Sheridan Blvd., Milwaukee,
former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) Lutheran pastor, passed away at Milwaukee General
Hospital, Tuesday, April 21, 1970.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 24th at Zion Lutheran Church,
Town of Easton. Rev. Ira Grimm of Chippewa Falls officiated, and burial was made
in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
Rev. Zimmerman was born December 1, 1900 at Chicago. He was married July 14,
1923 at Tug Lake, Wisconsin to Emma Krombholz. He graduated from the seminary on
June 15, 1923. He was ordained at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Chicago, on
July 22, 1923, and installed at Lilly White Lake, August 12, 1923 by Pastor C.D.
Griese of Pollar, Wisconsin, and Reverend Oswald. He was pastor at Lilly White
Lake, Zion, Town of Easton, Thorp and Stanley Lutheran Churches.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Frederick of Sepulveda, California,
Paul of Milwaukee; one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Sperberg of Kirkwood, Missouri; a
brother, Alfred, of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. D. Schorneck of
Chester, South Dakota, Mrs. Ruth Sauerwein of Paulding, Ohio; and five
grandchildren.
