Pagel, Nettie (22 OCT 1889 – 26 APR 1970)
Mrs. Louis Pagel, 80, passed away Sunday evening, April 26, 1970 at the Victory
Memorial Hospital, Stanley.
She was born October 22, 1889 in Richland County and moved to the Thorp (Clark
Co., Wis.) area in 1902 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harper. She was
united in marriage to Louis Pagel on June 30, 1908 at Thorp. They farmed in the
town of Reseburg until 1946, when they moved to the city of Thorp. They observed
their 61st wedding anniversary June 30, 1969. She was a member of the Ladies Aid
and Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; eight daughter, Mrs. Julia Brill of
Madison, Mrs. Evelyn Luer of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Ann Groetteum of Coon Rapids,
Minnesota, Mrs. Allie Leskinen and Mrs. Nettie Leskinen of Eau Claire, Mrs.
Florence Selter of Stanley, Mrs. Leora Dudansky and Mrs. Alice Danielewicz of
Thorp; four sons, John of Owen, Fred of Eau Claire, Louie Jr. of Stanley, Theron
of Thorp and Gordon Hansen of Ottawa, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Bohn of
Thorp; 51 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, her parents, three
brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Olson officiating, with burial in the Reseburg
(Sylvan) Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Sigurd Leskinen Jr. of Madison, Gary Groetteum of
Coon Rapids, Larry Leskinen of St. Paul, Gerald Pagel and James Danielewicz of
Eau Claire, and George Pagel of Thorp.
Relatives and friends attending were from : Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee,
Madison, Racine, Wisconsin, Coon Rapids, St. Paul, Minnesota; Muscoda, Menomonie,
Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Boyd, Stanley, Augusta, Wausau, Owen, Withee,
Medford, Holcombe, Wisconsin; Cedar Falls and Clinton Iowa, and Thorp.
