Gifford, Lester C. Sr. (21 NOV 1873 – 17 MAY 1970)
Mr. Lester Charles Gifford, 96, a resident of the Charles City Nursing Home
since November 19, 1967, died Sunday afternoon at the home.
Lester Gifford was born in Iowa on November 21, 1873, the son of Simeon and
Margaret (Pendleton) Gifford. He received his education in the St. Lucas, Iowa
schools. In December of 1898 he married Mary Mumby.
Mr. Gifford was a retired farmer.
Survivors include: one son, Simeon Gifford of Charles City; one daughter, Mrs.
V.F. Wohr (Donetta) of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel
Helserman of West Union, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, one
daughter, and one son.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 19th, 3:00 p.m., at Hoeper and Kraut
Funeral Home, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery,
Withee, Wisconsin.
