Vlach, Frank Joseph Jr. (17 JAN 1936 - 9 OCT 2017)
Frank Joseph Vlach, Jr., 81, longtime Phillips resident, died on Monday, October
9, 2017, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips, while under the
care of Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice.
He was born on January 17, 1936, in Phillips, the son of Frank J. Sr., and
Johanna (Novak) Vlach. He spent his early life and schooling in Price County,
where he attended and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1955. He
then served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was married to Mary Lane Huggins on June 30, 1967. She preceded him in death
On February 18, 1990. He was employed by various companies as a roofer, at
Lionite Hardboard, Phillips, and most recently at Marquip Ward United until
retirement in 1999.
In his free time he was an avid Packer and Badger fan and enjoyed spending time
with his family and friends. He was a member and attended the New Hope Baptist
Church in Kennan, and the Moose Lodge #2661, Phillips.
He is survived by his children: Frank (Sarah) Vlach, Dubuque, IA, and Peggy
(Michael) Esche, Appleton, WI, by his Step Children: Bob (Becky) Huggins,
Clintonville, WI, Robbin Huggins, Rhinelander, James Huggins, Fresno, CA, and
Chrystal (Ken) Foytik, Palmer, AK, by 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,
by 5 brothers: John (Pat) , Joe, Bob, Tony (Janet) all of Phillips, and Bill,
Fort Collins, CO, and by 2 sisters: Barb (Pat) Andrus, Phillips, and Irma (Bill)
Neitzel, Hot Springs, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Mary, by 1 sister Agnes
Dumann and by 1 brother James.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at
the New Hope Baptist Church, Kennan, with Pastor Jonn Morrow officiating.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 1:00 P.M.
until the time of the service.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778
and the Lane-Kreiling American legion Post #122, both of Phillips
Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips, at a later date.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
