Kobielush, Carol M. (Ljungquist) (1921? - 11 OCT 2017)

Carol M. Kobielush, age 96, entered her heavenly home on October 11, 2017. Carol was born, raised and lived, except for a few years, at the homestead just south of Westboro, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Ida Ljungquist, early Swedish immigrant settlers in Westboro. She is also preceded in death by her older brothers and sisters: Erik, Wally, Hilda, Ellen, and Harry Ljungquist.

After 8 years of marriage, Carol chose to embrace the grace of Jesus Christ and raise her five sons in a loving Christian home as a single mother. With the help of her parents, and particularly her sisters Hilda and Ellen, Carol provided a wonderful home and nurturing environment at her childhood farm in Westboro. Here she provided a place for her five boys to learn and practice Christian values that are lasting a lifetime.

She is survived by all five of her sons and their wives: Bob (JoAnn) of Monument, CO; Don (Juana) of Colorado Springs, CO; Jim (Ann) of Scottsdale, AZ; Dave (Linda) of Minneapolis, MN; and Bruce (Julie) of Franklin, TN. Eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive.

Carol went to college at age 38 so she could eventually provide financially for her family. She received her teaching degree and for 25 years, taught 8th grade English and Social Studies at Rib Lake Junior High. Until her death, former students would stay in touch with Carol often expressing their appreciation for her influence in their lives.

Carol was also active in the Town of Westboro where she served as the Town Clerk, was influential in founding the Westboro Public Library, has written the definitive history of the churches in Westboro, has been a member of the Woodland Community Church since its inception, and spent many hours during the summer cooking at Camp Forest Springs, a ministry that she loved and credits with helping her raise her five sons.

Carol always looked on the positive side, "rose above", and gave of herself so others might realize their full potential. None realize this more than her family.

Many friends in the community have provided extraordinary care and love as she stayed at her home in Westboro until the Spring of 2016. These loving neighbors and friends exemplify what it means to be a community of people who really care for one another.

Because of her acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior, she is now in Heaven. She will be missed greatly, but many of us know we will see her again.

Visitation for Carol will be at the Woodland Community Church in Westboro (corner of Hwy 13 and Bus Hwy 13) on Friday, October 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral will be at the Woodland Community Church on October 28 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Her former Pastor Grant Brown will be officiating. Burial will be at the Westboro Mount Olive Cemetery, followed by a time of remembrance, fellowship, and lunch at the Woodland Church. All are cordially invited to attend.
