Wendtland, Darlene E. (Weldon) (19 MAY 1934 - 18 DEC 2005)

Darlene E. Wendtland, 71, Edgar, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church-High Steeple, town of Wien. Rev. Matthew Christian will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

She was born May 19, 1934 in Milan, daughter of the late Herman and Delores (Siegert) Weldon. On February 20, 1952, she married Clarence Wendtland at Wuertzburg Catholic Church. He survives.

Darlene worked for Edgar Packing for many years while helping to maintain the family farm in Edgar. She retired from Kolbe and Kolbe Millwork Company, Wausau.

Among her many interests, she enjoyed feeding birds, gardening, playing pool, dancing, her dog, Buffy and most of all, she had a big heart and was a friend to anybody, especially those in a time of need.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence “Yogi”, Edgar; six children, Janice (Steven) Soczka, Edgar, Jim (Pattie) Wendtland, Edgar, Larry (Janice) Wendtland, Edgar, Lois (Ron) Maldonis, Abbotsford, Gary (Gail) Wendtland, Edgar, and Gale (Wayne) Waddle, Lafayette, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Amanda Soczka, Jason and Jeff Lemanski, Richard and Misti Wendtland, Derek (Crystal) Wendtland, Bradley (Sandy) Wendtland and Kelly (Scott) Townsend; four great grandchildren, Damion and Dakota Wendtland and Shelby and Mackenzie Townsend and one brother, William (Ellen) Weldon, Stetsonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Michael Wendtland in March of 1996.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Darlene’s family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date.
