On Saturday morning, July 4, 1970, three older 4-H members from Clark County,
Wisconsin, along with 45 others from 17 other counties in Wisconsin, left for
Washington, D.C. and the National 4-H Center to attend the July 5 through 11 4-H
Citizenship Short Course.
The three from Clark County who were selected were David Gaddis, Longwood Center
4-H Club, son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Gaddis, route 2, Withee. David has been a 4-H
member for 8 years and he has been an outstanding dairy project member, and has
been a member of the Clark County 4-H Dairy Judging teams. David also
represented Clark County at the National 4-H Dairy Conference in Chicago in
December of 1969. He has also been active as a junior leader in his local 4-H
club.
Vicki Sischo of the Mound View 4-H Club and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeVere
Sischo, route 3, Neillsville, is another participant in this year's Short
Course. Vicki has been a 4-H member for seven years and has been a very active
dairy member, and has also been a member of the Clark County Senior Dairy
Judging team the past two years.
The third participant is Joanne Zielanis of the Pine Valley 4-H Club. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zielanis, route 1, Thorp. This is Joanne's fifth
year in 4-H and she has been an outstanding clothing project member, and
represented Clark County at the State Dress Review at the Wisconsin Junior State
Fair in August of 1969. Joanne has also been an outstanding leader in her local
4-H club, and also has been involved in such projects as photography and Junior
leadership.
The group will be returning to Clark County on Saturday, July 11. The 4-H
Citizenship Short Course is a week of learning and fun combined to make an
unforgettable personal experience.
