Lemanski, Florian J. (9 APR 1936 - 2 MAY 2012)
Florian J. Lemanski, 76, Marathon, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in Marathon.
He was born April 9, 1936 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Casimir and
Eulalia "Sis" (Kafka) Lemanski.
Florian attended grade school at Sacred Heart in Cassel and graduated from
Marathon High School in 1955. On July 11, 1956, he married Jacquiline Vetter at
St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
Florian was a veteran of the United States Navy with the USS Sellstrom from 1956
until 1960. He spent many years farming in Marathon and also worked as a parts
person at different implement dealerships, with fifteen years at Gertschen's
Implement.
Florian was on the Board of Directors and Past Secretary for the Marco Co-op for
many years, Past President of the Rib Riders Snowmobile Club, on the Board of
Directors for Stetsonville Oil Company and a longtime member of the Knights of
Columbus, Mosinee.
Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, carpentry,
welding, golfing, fixing tractors, driving MF 540 combines, and most of all, he
loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include, his lifetime friend and mother of his children, Jacquiline
Lemanski, Marathon; three sons, Joel (Zona) Lemanski, Patrick (Barbara) Lemanski
and David (Paulette) Lemanski, all of Marathon; one daughter, Peggy (Bradley)
Miller, Mosinee; four brothers, Murilen Lemanski, Wausau; Roger (Harriet)
Lemanski, Bryon (Karen) Lemanski and James (Peggy) Lemanski, all of Marathon;
three sisters, Geraldine (Christie) Bloom, Marathon, Janice (Donald) Linder,
Marathon and Diann (Kim) Helnore, Belvidere, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, Jill (Tim)
Narlock, Julie (Jimmy) Weideman, Emily and Matt Wogernese, Jonathan, Michael and
Sarah Lemanski, Elizabeth (Patrick) Weiland, Hannah (Nick) Arneson, Abigail (fiance'
Sayer Jackson) Lemanski, Olivia and Noah Lemanski, Andrew, Dana, Anthony, Devin,
Alex and Danielle Lemanski and Spencer and Merideth Miller; six great
grandchildren, Elijah, Leo, Jonah, Hayden, Adessah and Cordelia; his longtime
friend, Sally Riemer, Rib Mountain; Sally's children, Amy (Tim) Zoromski and
their children, Abigail and Anna, Rick (Kim) Riemer and their children, Carson
and Chase, and Kristy (Jason) Wolf and their daughter, Emily; and many nieces
and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Wogernese;
one grandson, Daniel Lemanski; one sister, Ann Lemanski; and one sister-in-law,
Maureen Lemanski.
The funeral mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier presided.
Pall bearers were Andrew, Jonathan, Michael, Anthony, and Noah Lemanski, Matt
Wogernese, Spencer Miller, and Mark Wasmundt. Burial was at the parish cemetery,
with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Dreikosen Post No.
469, Marathon.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon was charge of arrangements.
