Miller, Raymond E. Jr. (19 AUG 1934 - 20 OCT 2017)

Raymond E. Miller Jr., age 83, of Colby passed away at his residence on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Riplinger at 1 p.m. Pastor Rebecca will preside. Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Riplinger.

Military honors will be provided by the Unity Legion Post No. 358. Family and friends are welcome from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

Raymond was born on Aug. 19, 1934, in Owen, the son of Raymond and Florence (Kasper) Miller, Sr. Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army during 1954-1956. On Sept. 20, 1958, he married Joan Block at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger.

Ray was a member of St. John’s Church in Riplinger, and on the church’s cemetery committee. He was also a member of the Unity Legion No. 358 and Rip Riders Snowmobile Club.

Ray is survived by his wife, Joan; five children, Jesse (Kim) Miller of Parker, Texas, Joy Miller of Colby, Jody (Gary) Viegut of Abbotsford, Jewel (Michael) Schuette of Mosinee, and Jason (Tina) Miller of Dorchester; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild on the way. He is further survived by two sisters, Carol Busse of Colby, and Annette (Don) Weichelt of Mavinger, Mo.; and a brother, David Miller of Rockford, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons, Justin Ress and Dustin Weiler.
