Slota, Bernard R. (13 OCT 1917 – 19 JUL 1970)
Dr. Bernard Robert Slota, 52, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 19, 1070 of a heart
attack in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, while vacationing there with his
wife.
Dr. Slota was born October 13th, 1917 at Duluth, Minnesota and later being in
Gilman. He graduated from the Marquette School of Dentistry and had been
practicing in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past 25 years. He was married to
Lenore Marie Moore, November 28th, 1945 at Cleveland, Tennessee.
Dr. Slota was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Thorp Lions Club,
Businessmen's Association, Foresters, St. Bernard's Church and Holy Name
Society.
Funeral services were held at Thorp Funeral Home and St. Bernard's Church,
Thorp, on Thursday, July 23rd, at ten a.m. Father Francis Brockman officiated,
co-celebrating with Father Ed Masalewicz, Father Chester Moczarny, Father Bill
Matzek, Father Joe Walejewski, and Father John Naus, S.J. Burial was made in St.
Bernard's Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harvey Boie, Clarence Ruff, Wallace
Dobryzinski, Jean Broeren, Ray Baldeschwiler and Dr. John Foster.
Surviving are his wife, Lenore; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Slota of Gilman;
three sons, Bernard D. and Joseph F., both attending Marquette at Milwaukee,
Samuel J. at home; two daughters, Candace L. of Milwaukee, and Sarah M.
attending Marquette at Milwaukee; and one sister, Marjorie Staroslec of
Milwaukee.
