Schmidt, Sophie (5 OCT 1899 – 17 AUG 1970)
Sophie M. Schmidt, 70, passed away at the Augusta Nursing HOme in Augusta,
Wisconsin as a result of a stroke she suffered eight months ago.
She was born October 5, 1899 in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), the daughter of John A.
and Minnie Schmidt. Most of her life was spent in Thorp, except for eight years
of employment at Cadott. In Thorp she was employed at the Foremost Blue Moon
Cheese Company for 22 years until she retired in 1965. Following this she was
employed part time at Cadott.
Survivors include: two sisters, Carrie Schmidt and Mrs. Victor (Evelyn)
Grajkowski; one brother, Frank Schmidt, all of Thorp; seven nieces and six
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, with
Reverend Francis Brockman officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Layton Asselin, Gilbert Voelker Sr., Herbert Hermsen, Frank
Schwetz, Adolph Imbery, and Frank LeClair.
