Anderson, Susan M. (Whiteside) Sommer (5 MAY 1949 - 26 OCT 2017)
Susan M. Anderson, 68 of Stanley, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Aspirus
Wausau Hospital.
She was born on May 5, 1949 in Eau Claire the daughter of the late Roy and
Frances (Meyer) Whiteside. Sue grew up there and graduated from Regis High. She
went on to college at UW-EC and married Paul Sommer on November 15, 1969.
The couple settled in Stanley where Paul taught at S-B Schools. He passed away
in 1983. Susan became the Librarian for Stanley in 1984 and held that position
until her retirement in 2014. On April 2, 1993 she married Donald Anderson in
Stanley. She had a strong love for her family and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Stanley, three children, Nora (David)
Lewallen of Rhinelander, Vince (Stacy) Sommer of Northfield, MN and Phil Sommer
of Madison, 4 grandchildren, Zoe, Amelia, Carter and Caitlin, her step children,
Racquel Estrada, Donald Anderson, Jr, Jeff Anderson and Elizabeth Olson, 2 step
grandchildren, Alexander and Danielle Estrada and three sisters, Roylene (Craig)
Garrett of Madison, Connie (Don) Holden of Menomonie and Ruth (Joe) Tarbox of
Chippewa Falls.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, 1st Husband-Paul and her sisters
Betty Whiteside and Ann Schmidt.
A memorial service will be at 11AM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church-Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Interment will
follow in Yellow River Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of services Saturday at the church.
Plombon Funeral Service-Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.
