Funeral services for Ella Katherine May, 78, were held Monday afternoon at Our
Savior’s Lutheran Church (Stanley, Wis.), with the Reverend Carl W. Peters
officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Fred Wisniewski was the organist and Wayne Qualheim as the vocalist.
Pallbearers were: Paul Haase, Eugene Ver Weyst, Winston Wohld, Imbert Qualheim,
Frank Wellner, and Leonard Severson.
Mrs. May was born April 21, 1892 in Clark County, Wisconsin, the daughter of
Hans and Anna Anderson. She lived all her life in the Stanley area. She was
married to Herbert May on February 15, 1015, and they farmed in the town of
Worden (Clark Co.) until 1956, when they retired. Mr. May died on November 23,
1960.
Survivors include one son, Laverne of Stanley; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard
(Bernice) Soeller of Stanley; three brothers, Emil of Albany, Oregon, Henry of
Owen, and Axel of Stanley; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil
Anderson of Albany, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson of Owen; Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald May of Eau Claire; Robert May of Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Laing of
Bloomer; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Berg of Plain; Elsie Frye of Eau Claire; Mr. and
Mrs. Arman Peterson of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Winston Wohld and Billy, and Mrs.
Olga Corwin of Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mills, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Diedrich,
and Lorraine Jasper, all of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Eppers of Chili;
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clark of Minneapolis; Miss Carolyn Dahl of Minneapolis; Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Wellner, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kosahoski, Mrs. Joe Wellner, Mrs. Earl
Patten, all of Boyd; and Mrs. Ervin Benzschawel of Thorp.
