Damm, Darrell L. (20 JUN 1942 - 8 NOV 2017)

Darrell L. Damm, 75 of Stetsonville, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Aspirus Medford Hospital, emergency room, Medford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 13 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, where there will also be military rites performed by the Stetsonville American Legion. Rev. James Babler and Rev. Richard Russow will co-officiate.

Pallbearers will be Hannah and Nick Brandner, Tyler and Ned Schumacher, Justin and Ludger Borger, Dominic and Jason Petti, Kevin Damm.

Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Stetsonville at a later date.

Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4-7 PM on Sunday, November 12 and also at church from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Monday, November 13

Darrell was born on June 20, 1942, at Owen, WI, to Herbert Louis and Florence Elsie (Marti) Damm. He attended Town of Little Black elementary schools, was a 1960 graduate of Medford High School, and attended Northwestern Lutheran College, Watertown, WI. He also went to Lumber Grading School in Memphis, TN.

On May 18, 1968, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Darrell was married to Gail E. (Waldhart), and she survives.

After his education, he served in the US Army from 1964-1966 in Korea. After the service he worked as a lumber grader for Rhyner Tie & Lumber in Stetsonville. Then he owned and operated Damm Saw Mill in Stetsonville from 1979-1988. Then he worked as a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening, his tractor and spending time with his family. He also served as caretaker of the Stetsonville Public Cemetery in the Town of Little Black. Darrell was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville where he served on the church council and the cemetery committee; and Stetsonville American Legion Post #519.

He is survived by his wife, Gail E. Damm, of Stetsonville, his children Amy (Nick) Brandner of Medford, Tracy (Ned) Schumacher of Medford, Sarah (Ludger) Borger of Wausau, Matthew (Heather) Damm of Medford and Amanda (Jason) Petti of Lakeville, MN, 24 grandchildren, siblings Cheryl (Herbert) McLees of Cottage Grove, MN and Marlin (Mary Alice) Damm of Cleveland, OK.

Darrell is predeceased by his parents, Herbert Louis and Florence Elsie (Marti) Damm, and a brother, Dennis Damm in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
