Gass, Margaret “Marge” Harriet (Bush) (11 MAY 1924 - 4 NOV 2017)
Margaret “Marge” Harriet (Bush) Gass, 93, Cornell, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4,
2017, at the Cornell Area Care Center. Margaret was born May 11, 1924, in
Washburn, to Joseph and Anna (Pommes) Bush.
She was united in marriage to Urban “Chuck” Gass June 19, 1950. Together, they
owned and operated the Paint Creek Tavern in Cadott, and The Spot Café in
Cornell.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Chuck, and spent
winters in Hot Springs, Ark.
More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with family and most of all her
grandchildren. She spent endless hours playing cards and telling stories. Marge
had an incredible gift for bestowing kind words of encouragement to everyone she
encountered thoughout her life, endearing her to all who were fortunate enough
to know and love her. She will be greatly missed by all. In addition to raising
her six children, Marge was a “second mom” to all their friends who always found
an open door and welcoming home at the Gass house.
She is survived by her children – Kathleen (Earl) Wolf, Janesville, Susan (Todd)
Howard, Cornell, Thomas (Elizabeth) Gass, Reno, Nev., and Michael, Kevin and
David Gass, all of Cornell; grandchildren – Matthew, Kimberly, Michael, Jeffrey,
Carissa, Timothy, Christina, Jonathan, Christine, Kathryn, Rebecca and Johnny;
and 12 great-grandchildren, with twins arriving in March that she was very
excited about.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at Borton-Leiser Funeral
Home in Cornell, with Charlie Tealey officiating. A memorial visitation will be
held two hours prior to the services Saturday morning, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at the Cornell Cemetery following the services.

The family of Margaret Gass would like to thank the Cornell Area Care Center and
St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassion and care.
