Johnston, Martha M. (Mills) Beadles (14 JUN 1926 - 4 JAN 2012)
Martha M. Johnston, age 85, passed away at Willow Pointe in Stoughton on
Wednesday, January 4, 2012.
She was born in Morganfield, Kentucky on June 14, 1926, a daughter of George and
Zelma (Vanhooser) Mills. Martha was married to Miniard 'Lee' Beadles in October
of 1945. He preceded her in death in February of 1969. In 1972, she married
Elmer Johnston, who preceded her in death in 1975.
Martha worked for many years in the bakery at Gary's United Foods in McFarland.
She volunteered for meals on wheels. Martha enjoyed reading and working in her
yard with flowers. She traveled to many places including Switzerland, Hawaii,
Scotland and Spain.
She is survived by her 3 children, Betty (Paul) Peters, William Beadles, and
Robert (Jane) Beadles; 9 grandchildren, Erica, Gretchen, Paul Jr., Sarah, Tim,
Jennifer, Amy, Tyffani, and James; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands’ Lee and Elmer; 3
sisters, Margaret Groppenbacher, Sue Malsch, and Rosa Mae Horton; and her 2
brothers, Charles and Cletus Mills.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Cress
Funeral Home in McFarland with Chaplain Robert Groth officiating. A luncheon
will follow at the McFarland American Legion Hall.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until
the time of service at noon. Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 10th at
2:00 pm at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River Township, Taylor County, Wisconsin.
