Geisler, Ethel (7 February 1886 – 3 September 1974)
A Town of Grant native, Mrs. Ethel Geisler of Long Beach, Ca., died there
September 3 at the age of 88. The former Ethel Howard, daughter of George and
Caroline (Lichte) Howard, was born February 7, 1886. She received her education
at the Kurth School in the Town of Grant. On October 2, 1907, she was married to
William Geisler.
Mr. Geisler was a butter maker, and the couple operated creameries at Christie,
Chippewa Falls, Bruce, and Chetek. In 1930, they took over operation of his
parents’ farm northwest of Greenwood.
Following the death of her husband in 1939, Mrs. Geisler spent several years in
Chicago, Il., before joining her sister in Long Beach, Ca., where she resided
for the past 27 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jay (Leola) Muno, Wheeling, Il.; one
sister, Mrs. Gertrude Martin, Long Beach, Ca.; one brother, Vern G. Howard,
Neillsville, Rt. 1; and one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev.
William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clarion Howard, William Howard, Vern H. Howard, Elmer Lichte,
Norman Meinhardt, and Robert Howard.
“Beyond the Sunset” and “Abide with Me” were sung by Wilfred Galstad. Mrs. Roger
Heineck was the accompanist.

Mrs. Adolph Wessel, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Lichte and son, Allen, Greenwood;
Mr. and Mrs. Clarion Howard, and Mrs. Ida Howard, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Erna
Howard, and Mrs. Raymond Brost, Milwaukee;
Mrs. Edward Zieroth, Waconia, Mn.; Mrs. Ken Ahlberg, Barren; Merton Howard, Mrs.
M. Wilcott, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howard, Marshfield; Mrs. Walter Lautenbach,
R. H. Dietrich, and Marian, and Mr. and Mrs. William Howard, Granton; and Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Meinhardt, Owen.
