Aumann, Mr./Mrs. Henry Sr. (Gold – 6 FEB 1973)
On Sunday, February 3, 1973, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aumann Sr. of Loyal (Clark Co.,
Wis.) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The day started with the family
and relatives entering church in a body to assist at a 10:30 High Mass
celebrated by Fr. King at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The Adult Choir, under
the direction of Mr. Wm. Theisen, sang the Mass. Four of their grandsons, Steven
Miller, Donald Aumann, Harold Bentzler, and Dale Aumann were Mass servers. Pat
Mrotek of Cadott was lector.
Fr. King and Fr. Mertens of Willard were special guests at the dinner served for
the family and relatives at the Star Lodge Motel, followed by open house from 2
– 6 p.m. Yellow and white carnations decorated the head table, with sprayed gold
flowers on the side tables. Three heart-shaped single cakes held the tiered
cake, which was decorated with gold bells on top, white doves and gold flowers
around. The cake was cut by their daughter Doreen.
The honored couple had yellow and white carnations for their corsage and
boutonniere.
Three granddaughter, Sandy Miller, Lori Aumann, and Karen Ampe were in charge of
the guest book. Tammi Miller and Michelle Mrotek, who are also granddaughter,
presented everyone who attended the open house with a gold net corsage filled
with miniature mints.
Henry Aumann was born October 5, 1895 at Colby Spring, Wis. to the late John and
Caroline Aumann, There were 12 members of his family, of which 4 are still
living. Agnes Aumann was born on December 31, 1898, at St. Lucas, Iowa, to the
late John and Mary Langreck. There were nine members of her family, of which
seven are still living.
Henry and Agnes were married on February 6, 1923 at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
at Neillsville by Fr. Edward Aumann, brother of the groom. Mrs. Ray Noll,
Neillsville, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Jake Langreck, brother
of the bride, was best man. Both were present for the 50th anniversary
celebration.
Mr. and Mrs. Aumann were engaged in farming all their lives until their
retirement in 1957. Before moving to Loyal in 1945, they farmed at Neillsville.
Mr. Aumann works for the Green Thumb Project and enjoys hunting, fishing, and
playing cards. Mrs. Aumann enjoys doing fancy work and playing cards. Both are
in good health.
All eight children were present, which include Louis, Butler, Wis.; Mrs.
Jeanette Bentzler, Greenwood; Mrs. Pat (Doreen) Mrotek, Cadott; Mrs. Paul
(Clara) Ampe, Irban, Clarence, Henry Jr., and Mrs. Raymond J. (Caroline) Miller,
all of Loyal. One son, Leon, died in infancy. They also have 28 grandchildren
and 3 great-grandchildren.
After the open house, the family and relatives went to the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Miller for the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Aumann received many cards, gifts and money. The family presented
them with money for a new color television set.
