Arneson, Marietta A. (Goettl) (18 JUL 1938 - 19 NOV 2017)
Marietta A. Arneson, age 79, of Cornell, WI passed away on Sunday November 19,
2017 at her home. She was born on July 18th, 1938 to William and Eleanor (LeDuc)
Goettl.
Marietta grew up on the family farm and attended Country School until 8th grade
and graduated from Cadott High School the Class of 1956. She also attended One
year of College.
Marietta was married to Durward L. Arneson on October 1st, 1957 following
marriage they lived in his cottage on the Chippewa River. She loved to garden
and raise many beautiful flowers.
They purchased his Father’s farm and raised white face Herford cattle and
carried on their own logging operation and built their own new home.
She loved camping, dancing and family get togethers. She was a loving wife,
mother and was a deeply religious person, and excellent cook, seamstress, sewing
her clothes and for her children, knitting blankets and was a 1st rate
carpenter.
Saturday night she would be on the dance floor, she loved doing favors and
helping the less fortunate people on Arneson Road. She was known as the flower
lady and will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
“Do not weep at my grave, I am not there. I did not die, I am the first flowers
and green grass of spring, fluffy white clouds floating high over head, ripening
grain waving in the breeze, colored leaves, softly falling snow flake colored
lights of Christmas. Do not weep at my grave, I did not die, I am not there.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday November 24, 2017
at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, WI. Interment will be in St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Holcombe, WI following the services. A visitation
will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM on Friday at the Borton-Leiser Funeral
Home in Cornell, WI.
