Mauch, George T. (8 NOV 1895 - 5 FEB 1991)
George T. Mauch, age 95, died on Tuesday, February 5, 1991 at Maplewood Nursing
Home in Sauk City.
He was born in Appleton on November 8, 1895, the son of the late August and
Magdalen (Grlenhaver) Mauch.
He enlisted in the Army In 1918, and was a combat veteran of World War I. He
received a commendation from the French Government for having fought in France
during the war. He married Jessie Bromley on May 13, 1933.
Mr. Mauch was a rural mail carrier from 1926 until 1961 In the Sheldon and Jump
River areas. He moved to Sauk City In 1975. Mr. Mauch was a member of the
Retired Letter Carriers Association, the Sauk Prairie American Legion, the
Sheldon American Legion, the Jump River V.F.W., the Baraboo World War I Circus
Barracks, and the A.A.R.P.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie; three sons, Rodney (Dolores) of Milwaukee,
Bartley (Margaret) of Prairie du Sac, and D. Bruce (Gall) of Chelsea,
Massachusetts; a daughter, Myrna Mauch D.C. of Holmen; seven grandchildren,
Paul, Gary, Debra, Grant, Gregory, Geoffrey, and Gretchen; several nieces and
nephews; and two cousins.
He was preceded in death by a step-sister, Lillian Jensen.
Funeral services will be held at the Jump River Community Center at 1:30 p.m. on
Friday, February 8, 1991 with Dr. Paul Nagel officiating. Burial will be In the
Mt. Nebo Cemetery near Jump River.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 1991 at
Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home, in Sauk City.
