Ryan, Elva Mae (Gladwell) Metzenbauer (22 MAY 1915 - 6 NOV 2017)
Elva Mae Ryan, 102, Chippewa Falls, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at the
Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.
Mae was born May 22, 1915, to Albert and Cora (Wilcox) Gladwell, in the Town of
Wheaton.
She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1933.
Mae worked at the Chippewa Falls Woolen Mill, until she married Lawrence “Pat”
Ryan Oct. 26, 1935. They lived in the Cadott area, and later moved to Baraboo,
and Rockford, Ill.
Pat passed away Sept. 8, 1971. Mae moved back to Cadott in 1977, and worked for
the Chippewa County Office on Aging for 10 years.
She married Harold Metzenbauer in Cadott, May 22, 1984. Harold passed away Oct.
1, 2002.
She is survived by three children – Larry (Hazel), Loretta, Charles (Fran),
Roseberg, Ore., and Carol (Keith) Folkman, Ames, Iowa; two step-children – Lois
Krall, Altoona, and Detra Hanscom, Eau Claire; stepdaughter-in-law – Cathy
Metzenbauer, Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren;
numerous great-grandchildren; and special family friend – Patty McDonell,
Chippewa Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; an infant son – James; and
two stepchildren – Bill Metzenbauer and Judy Guckenberg.
A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at
Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, with Deacon Ned Willkom officiating. Interment
will be in the St. Rose Cemetery following the services.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday morning, at the
funeral home.
