Kniess, Eugene “Gene” R. (31 MAR 1939 - 26 NOV 2017)

Eugene “Gene” R. Kniess, 78, a former Medford area resident, passed away on Sunday, November 26 at Dycora Transitional Health, Abbotsford where he had resided for the past 5 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. James H. Babler officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Thursday, November 30.

Gene was born on March 31, 1939 at Hamburg, Marathon County, to Edwin and Caroline Christine (Klockziem). He attended Taylor Elementary School in Hamburg.

Gene was married on June 21, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford, to Elaine E. (Weiland), and she survives.

Prior to his marriage, he worked at the Gad Cheese Factory for some time. After their marriage, they farmed in the Gad area for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed polka music.

He is survived by his wife Elaine E., of Medford, Sister - Adeline Kloth of Medford, Brothers-in-law: Duane (Dottie) Weiland of Janesville, Allen Weiland and Francis Weiland both of Avalon, WI, Sister-in-law: Carol Pastorius of Avalon, WI, and further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gene is predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Caroline Christine (Klockziem) Kniess, and a sister – Janet Kloth in October of 2017.
