Grap, Perry (1967? - November 2017)

Perry Grap, 50, of Shell Lake passed into his eternal life surrounded by his loved ones at home after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.

Perry was a beloved husband to Susan and a wonderful father, brother, son, and uncle, who led a remarkable life. He was the youngest of the Graps, born in Neillsville, Clark County, raised on the family farm where he enjoyed snowmobiling, polka dancing, and yearly fishing trips to Canada growing up. A true outdoorsman, Perry loved fishing, hinting, and gardening, especially with his son Austen. He passed on his love and talents for all these things to his friends and family.

He attended parochial school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Neillsville, and graduated from Neillsville High and earned his associate degree in architectural commercial design from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, Rice Lake.

Perry worked in Sales at Arrow Building Center in Spooner for over 29 years before his retirement. He also founded his own successful business, PDG Specialty Woodworks, where he built beautiful custom cabinetry and fine furniture. Perry built his own lovely home, along with a home for his parents and hunting cabin in Neillsville. Every spring, Perry continued the family tradition of making maple syrup. He would tap over 600 trees on his property, and loved cooking time, surrounded by family and friends.

Perry was so proud to be a member of the Spooner Fire Department, and was a valued volunteer firefighter, a true part of the brotherhood.

The past summer, Perry married the love of his life, Susan, and celebrated a beautiful wedding with many family and friends. He was a member of Our Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Spooner.

Perry is survived by his wife, Susan Grap, and her sons, Nate and Christ Larson; Perry’s son, Austen Grap; his parents Fred and Millie Grap of Neillsville; his sisters, Sherri Donahue (John) of Baraboo, Terri Grap (friend Bill John) of Neillsville and Kerri Grap Walker (Shane) of Ashland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service was held at Noon Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Our Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, N5015 Beaverbrook Avenue in Spooner, where visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment was held privately.

Condolences for the family can be left online at www.bratleynelsonchapels.com.
