Herron, Roy Samuel Jr. (26 March 1947 – 21 November 2017)
Roy Herron, 70, of Suamico, formerly of Neillsville, died peacefully with his
sons by his side on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at the Bay Harbor Care Center in
Suamico.
Roy Samuel Herron Jr. was born on March 26, 1947, in Willow Springs, IL, the son
of Roy Sr. and Mildred (Schlick) Herron. After Roy Jr. completed the third
grade, he and his family moved to Neillsville, where he attended the Washington
Grade School, and graduated from Neillsville High School. After graduation, Roy
ran the family farm, and then went to work for the Holiday Gas Station in
Neillsville. He would go on to work for the Holiday Company as a manager, and
moved, and worked in various locations throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. When
he retired from Holiday, he moved back to Neillsville, and sold real estate for
Landini auction Service, and later worked as a sales representative for the
Clark County Press, and Shopper. Roy then moved to Appleton, and worked in sales
and marketing. When he retired from that job he moved back to Neillsville.
He is survived by two sons Shane (Tammy) Herron of Appleton, and Clay (Denise)
Herron of Kaukauna; five grandchildren, Brooke, Colton, Rick, Hailie, and Colin
Herron; a sister, Michael Ann Thompson of Plover; a brother, David (Yvonne)
Herron of Marshfield; and a sister-in-law, Janice Koenig of Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam; his parents, and three brothers,
Larry, Rick, and Frank Herron.
A memorial service for Roy was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at
the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Terry Marg officiated. Visitation
was held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment
will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery later.
