Such, John (1 JAN 1922 – 1 DEC 2017)
John Such, 95, of Stanley, died peacefull with his family by his side on Friday,
December 1, 2017, at the Homeplace in Stanley. He was born on January 1, 1922 in
Poland, the son of the late Wojciech and Aneila (Boczar) Such.
He was raised in Poland and married Leonarda Such there on November 18, 1952.
The couple moved to Wisconsin in 1959 and farmed north of Stanley. John was also
an accomplished mason, working for Peter Smoczyk. John was a member of All
Saints Parish. He was an avid reader, especially of books about history, and
always stayed current on world events. He enjoyed playing tysiac (thousand), a
Polish card game, with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children (Halina (David) Knapp of Waupun, Hatty (James)
Wirth of Stanley, Albert (Annie Bissantz) Such of Carol Stream, IL, and Mary
(Ron Hazuga) Thrasher of Stanley; nine grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren, and one sister, Maria Zaluski of Poland. John was preceded
in death by his wife, Leonarda (April 5, 2017), his parents, two sisters,
Wladyslawa Rygiel and Stanislawa Wilk, and a brother in infancy.
A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at St. Mary's
Czestochowa Catholic Church, near Stanley, with Father Jamusz Kowalski
officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley,
with a 7 p.m. rosary, and on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30
a.m. until departure to the church.
