Sweet, Roy (27 APR 1905 - 20 JUL 1977)
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Gilman funeral home for
Roy Sweet, 72-year-old town of Cleveland resident who died Wednesday afternoon,
July 20, 1977 at Memorial hospital, Medford. Rev. Al Currier officiated and
burial took place in the Hannibal cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Tom Herman, Carl Weihrouch, Elroy Pinkert, Loren
Morris, Brian Stunner and Bruce Truax.
Mr. Sweet was born April 27, 1905 at Williamsville, Mo., and at age 16 moved to
the Hannibal area. His marriage to Bernice Mudgett, who survives, took place
October 31, 1925 at Medford. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed in
the town of Cleveland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Harry, Gilman, route 2; a
daughter, Eileen, Mrs. Clyde Martz, Baraboo, 14 grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Noel, Medford, Robert,
Baraboo, and Hallard, Waukesha, and three sisters, Esther Sweet, St. Louis, Mo.,
Mrs. Edith Mudgett, Wilmington, N. Car., and Mrs. Violet Truax, Hannibal.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter.
