Brubacher, Helen J. (19 MAY 1954 – 6 DEC 2017)
Helen J. Brubacher, 63, Abbotsford, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at
Dycora Transitional Living in Abbotsford under the tender care of hospice. A
memorial gathering was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, at the
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.
Helen Sterzinger was born on May 19, 1954, in Colby, the daughter of Arthur and
Lola (nee Sweeney) Sterzinger. She earned her associates degree in nursing from
Northwest Technical College. Helen worked as an RN for the Colonial Center in
Colby for 12 years, and for the past five years she was an instructor at NTC. On
Nov. 27, 2002, Helen married Harold Brubacher. She loved cooking, sewing and
gardening. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, teaching,
traveling and ballroom dancing.
Helen is survived by her husband, Harold, of Abbotsford; three children: Kris
(Jody) Poehnelt of Wittenberg, Tina (Jason) Prindle of Greenwood, and Amy (Dan
Mitchell) Harwick of Eau Claire; three grandchildren: Clayton and Ryan Poehnelt
and Victoria Prindle; a great-granddaughter, Kaia; five siblings: Mary (Jim)
Gallagher of Acworth, Ga., Larry (Murph) Sterzinger of Athens, Barbara
Sterzinger of Abbotsford, Thomas Sterzinger of Withee, and John (Beth)
Sterzinger of Wausau; and many of her extended family including stepchildren,
step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: David and Michael
Sterzinger.
