Couillard, Harold W. (6 MAY 1927 - 22 APR 2006)
Harold W. Couillard, age 78, of Eau Claire, Wis., former longtime Hannibal area
resident, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Sacred Heart Hospital in
Eau Claire, Wis.
He was born in Hannibal, Wis., on May 6, 1927, the son of Addelor & Martha (Attlesey)
Couillard.
He grew up in the area attending area schools and later serving in the U.S. Army
during WW II. On June 26, 1928, he was united in marriage to Eunice Stebner in
Sheldon, Wis. They lived and farmed in the Donald area for many years and he
also owned and operated a store in Hanibal. He also worked for the Sheldon Co-op
for a number of years.
His wife Eunice passed away in 1997. On August 8, 1998, he was united in
marriage to Veronica Walker at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wis., and
had resided in Eau Claire, Wis., since. Harold loved to farm with his cattle and
horses. He also enjoyed music and dancing and watching "Western's".
He is survived by his wife, Veronica of Eau Claire, Wis., and two daughters,
Sharon (James) Soper of Ponce Inlet, Florida, and Karen (Larry) Verhulst of
Holcombe, Wis.; one son, Edwin (Cathy) Couillard of Pewaukee, Wis., and five
stepchildren, Melvin (Sue) Pinkert, Sharon Barrows, Shelley (Cal) Lund, Ronald
Walker all of Eau Claire, and Deanette (Chad) Tykla of Hudson, Wis.; and three
grandchildren, Brenda Komanec of Eau Claire, Wis., Wyatt (Jenny) Komanec of
Amery, Wis., & Chase Couillard of Pewaukee, Wis. He is also survived by one
brother, Willis (Katherine) Couillard of Gilman, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eunice in 1997, five
brothers, Jack, Dorwin, George, Gerald & Raymond ("Pete'"); and three sisters,
Dolly Gorsenger, Edna Hinkel and Mae Utegaard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Zion Lutheran
Church in Gilman, Wis., with Pastor Steven Haag officiating. Burial will be in
the Donald Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Sheldon
American Legion.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral
Home in Gilman, Wis.
