Krizan, Michael (20 AUG 1920 - 5 MAY 2004)
Michael Krizan, age 83, of Sheldon, WI, died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in
Stanley, on Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Epiphany
Lutheran Church in Stanley. Rev. Daniel Welch officiated and burial followed in
the Donald Cemetery. Michael’s sons served as pallbearers. Visitation was held
at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, May 7, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and
at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Michael Krizan was born on August 20, 1920, in St. Paul, MN, the son of John and
Anna (Stanko) Krizan. As a young boy, Michael moved with his family to a farm
near Donald, WI, where he was raised and educated at Donald Country School. At
the age of sixteen, Michael went to work in the C.C. Camps at Perkinstown.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served
overseas in the European Theatre as a Tech Sergeant. He was united in marriage
to Margaret A. Terry on February 1, 1943, in Conway, SC. Michael was a
tail-gunner with the Marauders B-26 Bombers Unit. After returning to the U. S.
he finished his duty in Clovis, MN, training as a flight engineer.
Upon his honorable discharge, Michael returned to Donald, WI and farmed until
retiring in 1991. He and his wife then moved and lived in Boyd until 1998, at
which time they moved to Thorp.
He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church; a past member of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Sheldon, where he was an active member; a member of the Sheldon
American Legion Post #316 for 57 years; and a member of the national V.F.W.
association. He also served as the Town of Pershing Assessor and on the Gilman
School Board.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret, of Gilman; his children: Janice
Reynolds of Blaine, MN; Barbara Krizan of Medford; Donna (Barry) Gorsinger of
Braham, MN; Michael (Debbie) of Nekoosa; Gary (Karen) of Stanley; Ronnie (Linda)
of Sheldon; Daryl (Robin) of Yelm, WA; Terry (Diane) of Boyd; Randy (special
friend Craig Caldwell) of Blaine, MN; Ralph (special Ramiro Fuentes) of Thorp;
Carol (Duane) Dorhdal of Blaine, MN; Annette Gutkowski of Blaine, MN;
twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; four brothers:
Andrew (Helen) of Cornell; Daniel (Beverly) of Sheldon; Paul (Bernadine) of
Gilman; Thomas of Madison; and two sisters: Mary (William) Mau of Eau Claire and
Nellie (Walter) Randall of Orlando, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; three brothers:
John, Michael and Tom; and four sisters: Ann Pynnonen, Sue Pynnonen, Ruth Horack
and Helen Krizan.
