Olson, Mildred M. (Williams) (2 MAR 1924 - 5 DEC 2017)
Mildred M. Olson, age 93, of Abbotsford, passed away on Tuesday, December 5,
2017 at the Colby Retirement Center, under the tender care of hospice.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, December 11, 2017 at
Christ Lutheran Church (308 W. Linden St.) in Abbotsford. The Rev. Donald Bruce
will officiate. Interment will follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and
friends are welcome from 10:00 AM until time of service Monday at the church.
Mildred was born on March 2, 1924 in the Town of Hoard, the daughter of Harry
and Bessie (Bartunik) Williams. On May 30, 1942, she was united in marriage to
William Olson at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway. He
preceded her in death on October 2, 1996.
They farmed in the Town of Holway until 1955, moved to Greenfield and returned
to farming in the Town of Frankfort in Marathon County in 1958. In 1975, they
retired from farming and moved to Abbotsford. Mildred worked at Abby Cafe for 20
years, retiring at the age of 70.
Mildred was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the Altar Guild.
She liked traveling, fishing and playing cards. Mildred was also a great cook
and baker and many people would come to Abby Cafe for her pies.
Mildred is survived by her two children: Roger (Arlene) Olson of Atlantic Beach,
FL and Karen (Thomas) Marcon of Athens; 6 grandchildren; 8 step-granchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren
and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister,
Myrtle Kubica of Grays Lake, IL; two sisters-in-law, Janet Williams of Owen and
Lorraine Nuernberger of Medford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her son, Floyd and
three brothers, Richard, Harold and Clifford.
The Olson family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the
Colby Retirement Center for their wonderful care Mildred received the past three
years and also to her wonderful neighbors in Abbotsford.
