Olson, Amy M. (1 OCT 1929 – 21 DEC 2017)

Amy M. Olson, 88, Greenwood, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at Mission Creek in Waukesha. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Olson, Adam Olson, Craig Johnson, Erik Gardner, Joe Gardner and Paul McMillan.

Amy Marie Ehlers was born on Oct. 1, 1929, in Greenwood, the daughter of Alvin Sr. and Mary (nee Morgal) Ehlers. She was raised on the family farm, attended Eaton School, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947. After graduation, Amy moved to Oconomowoc and worked at the Oconomowoc shoe factory. She married Stanley L. Olson on Dec. 1, 1950, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waukesha. They lived and raised their family in Waukesha until 1984, when they retired and returned to Greenwood. Amy resided in Greenwood until her husband's death on Nov. 6, 2016. She then moved back to Waukesha to be near family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary, and they were supporters of The Highground memorial park in Neillsville. Amy had many interests, but especially loved cooking, baking, dancing, listening to music, and fishing.

She is survived by four children: Teresa (Allen) Johnson of Greenwood, Ron (Mary) Olson of Waukesha, Karen (John) Gardner of Waukesha, and Margaret (Mike) Schroeder of Breckenridge, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Alvin Ehlers Jr. of Neillsville, and Bill (Linda) Ehlers of Greenwood; one aunt: Amy Morgal of Neillsville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Stanley.
