Olson, Amy Marie (1 October 1929 – 21 December 2017)
Amy M. Olson, 88, of Greenwood passed away at Mission Cr3eek in Waukesha
Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017.
Amy Marie Ehlers was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Greenwood, the daughter of Alvin Sr.
and Mary (Morgal) Ehlers. She was raised on the family farm, attended Eaton
School, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947. After graduation, Amy
moved to Oconomowoc and worked at the Oconomowoc Shoe Factory. She was united in
marriage to Stanley L. Olson Dec. 1, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in
Waukesha. They lived and raised their family in Waukesha until 1984, when they
retired and returned to Greenwood. Amy resided in Greenwood until her husband’s
death Nov. 6, 2016. She then, moved back to Waukesha to be near family.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Greenwood American Legion
Auxiliary, and Amy and her husband were supporters of The Highground Memorial
Park in Neillsville.
Amy had many interests, but especially loved cooking, baking, dancing, listening
to music, and fishing.
She is survived, by four children Teresa (Allen) Johnson of Greenwood, Ron
(Mary) Olson of Waukesha, Karen (John) Gardner of Waukesha, and Margaret (Mike)
Schroeder of Breckenridge, CO; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Alvin Ehlers Jr. of Neillsville, and Bill (Linda) Ehlers of Greenwood;
one aunt, Amy Morgal of Neillsville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Greenwood. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of
service.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Olson, Adam Olson, Craig Johnson, Erik Gardner, Joe
Gardner, and Paul McMillian.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Greenwood
American Legion Post #238, P. O. Box 176, Greenwood, WI 54437.
