Jessie Spry (4 June 1905-9 October 1997)
Jessie V. Spry, 92, Chili, died October 9, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Hospital where
she was admitted the previous day.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at United Methodist Church in Chili. The
Rev. Stan M. Pegram will officiate. Gerri Mast will be the organist burial will
be in Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles
Hannasch, Bob Kadrlik, Dennis Heart, Butch Hildebrandt, Kevin Lindow and George
Koopman.
She was born June 4, 1905 at Fairchild, the daughter of Alanzo B. and Ina (Cole)
Ross. She was married to Phelps B. Spry on August 13, 1930.
Mrs. Spry attended Fairchild elementary and secondary schools. She was a
graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After education, she taught
school in Grantsburg, Minneapolis, and Granton prior to her marriage. After
marriage, she resided in Chili until January 1997 when she entered the
Marshfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Chili and the United Methodist
Women.
She is survived by her son, Donovan Spry of Chili; two daughters, Beverly
(Walter) Helm of Chili and Janet (Dennis) Vanevenhoven of Appleton; four
grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her
sisters, Fern Dresser of Palmetto, Florida and Joyce Gates of La Crosse.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1972; her parents; and by two sisters.
Memorials may be designated to the family in her name and they will establish a
memorial at a later date.
