THORP—John Szczech, 85, died Monday at Victory Medical Center Nursing Home, Stanley.

Services will be Thursday and Sts. Bernard-Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, with the Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial will be in the New St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Thorp.

Visitation will be at the church Wednesday and before service time Thursday morning. A rosary service will be Thursday at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

He was born October 22, 1907, in Thorp, town of Reseburg, to the late Joseph and Julia Szczech.

He lived and farmed in the town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, for many years. He had been a resident of the nursing home for the past eight years.

He is survived by one sister, Alexandra Drake of Berkeley, Illinois.
