Knapp, Violet C. (Morarend) (9 JAN 1926 - 26 DEC 2017)
Violet C. Knapp, 91, of the Town of Colburn, Chippewa County, died at home on
Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
She was born on January 9, 1926 in Guttenberg, Iowa to the late Henry and
Catherine (Eggerth) Morarend. As a young girl, her family moved to the Gilman
area and she went on to graduate from Gilman High School. She worked at Presto
in Eau Claire and during the war helped manufacture munitions.
On August 31, 1946 she was united in marriage to Bernard Knapp. Violet was a
member of Holy Cross Catholic Church-Cornell and the Gilman American Legion
Auxiliary. Violet was always full of adventure. She loved being outdoors and
being close to nature.
She was also very dedicated to her family and helping others. Her kind-hearted
soul will be missed immensely, but her impression of the life she lived will
carry on through her family.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Karen) Knapp of Gilman, Diane (Ronald)
Wicke of Medford and Carolyn (Gary) Wilcenski of Gilman, 8 grandchildren, Scott,
Kevin and Bob Webster, Ron Wicke, Jamie Wilcenski, Danielle Green, Tracie and
Cody Knapp, 6 great-grandchildren, Tyra, Kiarra, Shayanne, Halle, Violet and
Kilian, a sister, Kathleen Cole of Belvidere, IL and a brother-in-law, Jerry
Lang.
Violet is preceded in death by parents, her husband, Bernard (2007), a brother,
Harvey
Morarend and two sisters, Janice Lang and Ilene Krupa.
A funeral service will be at 1PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Gilman
Funeral Home with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Burial will follow in
Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11AM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
