Murray, James Clarence (8 JUL 1935 - 17 DEC 2017)
James Clarence Murray, 82, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17,
2017 peacefully in his sleep.
Jim Murray was born in Chicago, Ill. on July 8, 1935. He attended Manley High
School and was an entrepreneur throughout his life.
Early in life, Jim owned a restaurant, auto repair business and was a successful
salesman. Later he became a home builder completing dozens of homes in
Wisconsin, Illinois and North Carolina.
Jim worked as the sole proprietor of his home building business for over 40
years, completing his last home at age 80.
Jim was married to Kathy Robison for 43 years. They lived in Chicago, Ill. and
Bruce for many years.
He enjoyed fishing with his sons, boating, golfing, studying and learning as
well as spending time with his friends and family. He was also an active
woodworking craftsman, building custom gifts for many years, and was a 32nd
degree Mason.
Jim is survived by his children, Glenn (Sheryl) Murray, Scott Murray, Chris
(Elaine) Murray, James L. (Lisa) Murray and Christine (Randy) Kostick; his
grandchildren, Derek, Stephanie, Kaitlin, Grant, Reed, Drew, Nick, Caitlin and
Emma and his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Paige.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Murray and Charles O’Konski, as
well as his oldest son Robin R. Murray.
The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2018 at Rocky
Mount United Methodist Church.
