Perez, Robert "Bob" Andrew (18 NOV 1936 - 10 NOV 2017)

Robert "Bob" Andrew Perez passed away of pneumonia on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Providence Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska, with his wife at his side.

Bob was born on Nov. 18, 1936, at La Junta, Colo., to Pete and Mildred (Whatley) Perez. His family lived in Wyoming and Montana before moving to Washington.

He graduated from high school in Moses Lake, Wash., High School in 1954 and had maintained lifelong friendships with classmates. From 1955 to 1959, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force, much of the time in Okinawa. He continued his education in Washington and Alaska.

On Feb.14, 1990, Bob married Jeanette "Jan" Aushra, in Hawaii. Bob enjoyed visiting friends in the Ladysmith area with Jan, who had lived in Rusk County.

At the time of his retirement, Bob was employed by the state of Alaska. A true Alaskan, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hiking with Jan and his dogs.

Surviving Bob are his wife, Jan; his daughter, Debra (Donald) Lane; his sons, John Perez and Joseph Perez; his grandchildren, Nicole Lane, Jonathan Pipkin and Adam Lane; his sisters, Mary (Jack) Maver and Peggy Palafox; his brother, Joseph (Sheila) Perez and his sisters-in-law, Jan Perez and Julie Erickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Perez, Jr.; his brother, Peter Perez and his sisters, Olga Perez and Dolores Lemm.

He leaves behind many other family members and friends. A gentle soul, he is truly missed by many.

Bob's family is thankful to all those who provided medical care and other support for him during his illness.
