Lukasiewicz, Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Golden -1974)

A former member of the county board of supervisors and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lukasiewicz, rural Thorp, celebrated their Golden Anniversary Saturday. Several grandchildren assisted in serving at the 1:30 p.m. Mass at St. Hedwig’s Chapel.

During the afternoon an invitational reception was held at the American Legion Hall. Members of the family wore gold edged boutonnieres, and corsages with Mrs. Lukasiewicz wearing an orchid to complement the gold threaded design of her gown. Her only remaining attendant, Mrs. Stanley (Evelyn) Posen, Chicago, also had a special corsage. Mrs. Posen is a sister of Mr. Lukasiewicz. Guests wore sprigs of gold leaves.

Table decorations at the dinner included a traditional money tree, and a unique floral fan with pleated folded money. Over 120 guests attended the dinner.

Both were born in the Town of Withee. She was the former Lottie Malecki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Malecki, Sr. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lukasiewicz, Sr.

Their wedding took place at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church on September 23, 1924, two days after a violent tornado had ripped through the Thorp area.

They moved to Chicago where he followed the painting trade, and continued for 40 years. After eight years they returned to the Town of Withee where they purchased a 160-acre farm. Twelve years ago, they retired to their present 40-acre farm on County Trunk “X”.

Lukasiewicz served intermittently as chairman of the Town of Withee from the Depression years in the 1930’s into the 1950’s. At that time, he also served on the County Board of Supervisors.

Mrs. Lukasiewicz had worked in Milwaukee and Kenosha, before her marriage, and also at Western Electric in Chicago. At present she is employed at the Thorp Care Center in Thorp.

Their children, all of whom were present for the celebration are: Miss Florence Lukasiewicz, Owen; Walter Lukasiewicz, Rockford, Il.; Ted Lukasiewicz, Chicago; Mrs. Herman (Rose Mae) Skalecki, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Ray (Elaine) Pszeniczny, Thorp; Kenneth Lukasiewicz, Janesville; Mrs. Tony (Shirley) Wilczwk, Chippewa Falls; and Mrs. Joe (Betty) Wilcek, Greenwood. There are 19 grandchildren.

In the evening there was dancing at the Legion Hall.
