Franke, Linda Kay (Marriage – 21 September 1974)

Mis Linda Kay Franke carried a bouquet of orchids, stephanotis, baby’s breath, and ivy as she became the bride of William Ganther on Saturday, September 21, at Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.

The Rev. Alden Moldenhauer officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Franke, Rt. 1 Chili, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ganther, Rt. 1 Granton. The Franke’s presented their daughter in marriage.

After the bride and groom lit a candle signifying their unity, they gave each of their mothers a single red rose.

Polyester satapeau formed the bride’s gown fashioned with an empire line bodice outlined with venise lace. Her long veil of sheer polyester was held by a venise lace Juliet cap.

Margo Ganther of Cambridge, Mn., sister of the groom, was the maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids, all cousins of the bride, were: Esther Todd, Marshfield, Karen Carlson, Milwaukee, Roxanne Murphy, Owen, and Susan Franke, Marshfield. Their empire-waist gowns in rainbow shades of two greens, orange, hot pink, and peacock blue polyester, respectively, were styled with hemline flouncing and venise lace waistline, collar, and wrist trim. Headpieces of lace and net, and bouquets of yellow spider mums, purple statice, and daisies tinted to match each gown completed the ensembles.

Gary Franke of Chili, brother of the bride, was the bestman. Groomsmen included Lee Ganther of Granton, brother of the groom, Gary Garbisch and Mark Crothers of Granton, friends of the groom, and Randy Murphy of Owen, cousin of the bride. Serving as ushers were Tracy Todd, Delafield, Daniel Franke, and Scott Franke, Marshfield, and Bruce Crothers, Granton.

Dennis Todd was the ringbearer, and Kim Todd, the miniature bride. Both are cousins of the bride.

“When I Fall in Love” was sung by Mrs. Walter Helm with Mrs. Lee Garbisch as the organist.

A reception at Bali Hai supper club was followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The new Mrs. Ganther is a 1972 graduate of Marshfield High School. Her husband graduated from Granton High School in 1966, and is engaged in farming.

Upon their return from a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, and Canada, they will live on Rt. 1 Granton.
