Gorst, Rose (19 March 1884 – 14 September 1974)
Mrs. Rose Gorst, 90, died September 14, at her home in Mazomanie. The former
Rose McMahon was born March 19, 1884, in Iowa County. She married Gregory Gorst
February 20, 1906, at Mazomanie. He died in 1961.
The couple farmed most of their life time, residing in the Fairchild area from
1918 until 1935, when they moved to the Neillsville area. They later moved to
Humbird, and returned to Mazomanie in 1946.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Mayer of Humbird, Miss Iona
Gorst, of Mazomanie, Sr. M. Roseen, of Platteville, and Dorothy Gorst, of Garden
City, Ks.; two sons, Vincent of Granton, and Robert of Genoa City; 11
grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held from St. Barnabas Catholic Church September 17. Fr. Hebl, Fr.
Biegler, and Fr. Schmid officiating. Interment was made in St. Barnabas
Cemetery.
