Betley, Mildred Louise “Millie” (Lenser) (24 MAR 1937 - 7 NOV 2017)
Mildred Louise Betley, 80, passed away quietly on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017. She had
been a resident of the Clark County Rehab and Living Center in Owen for the last
two years of her life.
Millie, as she preferred to be called, was born in Menomonee Falls on March 24,
1937 to Paul and Edna Lenser. She grew up with three other siblings on the
family farm.
She married Paul Betley in Milwaukee on Feb. 1, 1958. The couple had one child,
Linda, in 1962. The family continued to live in the Milwaukee area until the
early 1970s when they moved to Rusk County. Millie and Paul lived in various
locations in the county until his death in 2001, after which she moved to
Ladysmith and continued there until moving to Owen.
Millie had studied the Bible and dedicated her life to Jehovah God at the age of
19. She was active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses until her death. She thoroughly
enjoyed volunteering her time in Bible education work and sharing her Bible
based hope of one day living on a peaceful paradise earth. Besides her volunteer
work, Millie enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, card playing and watching
baseball on TV.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Linda (Don) Miller, of Okeechobee, Fla., as
well as two sisters-in-law, Loretta Lenser of Milwaukee and Alice Lenser of
Menomonee Falls. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all of her siblings,
Kenneth, Lucille, and Melvin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ladysmith. Millie’s nephew, Peter Betley, will be sharing
comforting thoughts from the scriptures.
