Pagel, Marie (Gebhard) (7 NOV 1928 - 4 JAN 2018)
Marie Pagel will be remembered for the love she had for her family. She was a
special mother to her thirteen children and loving wife to her husband, Vernon.
Marie took pride in sewing clothing for her children, gardening, loved being
outdoors, sitting in her porch swing, cooking meals from scratch and making sure
her cinnamon rolls were ready for the deer hunters in the family. Marie
especially loved her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.
She was born November 7, 1928 in Wausau to the late Martin and Alma (Wiederhoeft)
Gebhard. On September 28, 1946 Marie married Vernon Pagel.
They lived in the town of Stettin and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marie was an incredibly faithful member of Trinity. She found great comfort in
the scriptures and was a member of the Ladies Afternoon Circle at her church.
At the age of 89, Marie passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Aspirus
Wausau Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Mary (Ralph) Tarras of Weston, Thomas (Gloria)
of Wausau, Karen (Charles) Dorn of Appleton, Beverly (Robert) Kordus of Wausau,
Janet Vargas of Marathon, Susan (Lyle) Lawrence of Marathon, Donald of Wausau,
Patricia Kimmons of Wausau, David of Wausau, Andy (Laurie) of Merrill, Cynthia
(Michael) Preisig of Wausau, Pamela (Robert) Frei of Deerbrook, 29
grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, one son, John, two sisters,
Elaine Sherfinski and Pearl Harder and two sons-in-law, Forrest Kimmons and Juan
Vargas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran
Church, 1008 N. 120th Ave., Wausau. Reverend Phil Bogen will officiate.
Burial will be in Stettin Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday
beginning at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the
Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Visitation will resume on Monday at
10:00 a.m. until the time of service at church.
