Thompson, Philip Paul (20 MAR 1937 - 10 NOV 2017)
Philip Paul Thompson, 80, died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at his Exeland home due
to heart failure.
Phil was born in Radisson on March 20, 1937, a son of Paul and Eloise Thompson.
He lived his entire life in Sawyer County.
On June 30, 2012 he married Susan I. Martin in Winter. Phil was a member of the
Radisson Evangelical Free Church where he was an Elder. He was also a member of
the Gideons.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughters, Jennifer (Cal) Sati of Dayton,
Minn. and Christine Kliewer of Rockford, Mich.; six grandchildren, Amanda, Sami
and Erick Sati, and Corrin, Bryce and Trey Kliewer; four brothers and three
sisters, Max (Lois) Thompson of Exeland, Russell (Becky) Thompson of Exeland,
Don (Faye) Thompson of Winter, Ralph (Janet) Thompson of Exeland, Pauline
Godfrey (Cliff Anderson) of Barrington, Lorie Cohoon of Exeland and Mary (Frank)
Parsons of Monroe, Wash.; two step-daughters, Sharon Swartz of Mikana and
Barbara Biller of Winter and his sister-in-law, Elaine Thompson of Exeland.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon; his son, Bryan Philip
Thompson; his daughter, Joyce Linda Thompson; two brothers and three sisters,
Robert Thompson, Grace Smallwood, Linda Thompson, William Thompson and Georgina
Thompson.
Phil passed away peacefully. The grief of death is overwhelming because the joy
he brought us with his life was extraordinary. We are comforted though, by
knowing he is in his Heavenly Home praising Jesus and is reunited with Sharon,
Bryan and Joyce.
He got a second chance to love again with his beautiful wife, Sue. His children
and grandchildren meant the world to him. Every minute he spent with them was
special and cherished. Phil was raised with many brothers and sisters and their
bond remains as solid as ever.
A perfect day for Phil was spending time with his family, playing a good game of
cribbage or smear, watching a good western, eating some cookies or brownies,
telling or hearing a good joke and having his Bible close at hand. Phil inspired
others with his faith, love and hope!
A visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 12 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in
Ladysmith. Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 13 at The Evangelical Free
Church in Radisson with Tim Stillwell officiating.
Burial was in Windfall Cemetery in Exeland.
