Piwoni, Teofil (1 NOV 1888 – 6 DEC 1970)

Teofil Piwoni, Athens, Wisconsin, and formerly of Gilman, died at the Memorial Hospital at Medford Sunday, December 6, 1970, at :45 p.m.

He was born in Poland November 1, 1888, and came to the United States in 1904, to the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) area. He was married May 20, 1919 at Thorp to Alice Melanczuk, and they farmed in the Thorp area until 1946. He then moved to Hannibal, Wisconsin, where ran a tavern until 1952, and then moved to Athens, Wisconsin, and has lived there since. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Athens; four sons, Joseph of Athens, John and Edwin of Kenosha, and Marvin of Gilman; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marcella) Major of Tokyo, Japan, Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Lewis of Kenosha, and Mrs. Leroy Kaczynski of Niles Illinois; one brother, Peter of Thorp; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Florence) Juzwiak and Mrs. Anton (Phyllis) Dombroski, both of Thorp; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, with Father Casimir Paul officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
