Schmitz, Adelia (20 May 1903 – 8 October 1974)

Mrs. William (Adelia) Schmitz of Rt. 1, Granton, a longtime resident of the Town of Fremont, died October 8 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at the age of 71. Funeral services were held Friday morning from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, with the Rev. Robert Houston officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Gilbertson Funeral Home at Granton.

Mrs. Schmitz, the former Adelia Kopf, was born May 20, 1903, at Blenker, and received her education at St. John’s in Marshfield. Her marriage to William Schmitz took place December 20, 1920, at Neillsville. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, and of its Altar Society.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include five children: Mrs. Eldred (Shirley) Tesmer of Spencer, Russell Schmitz of Taft, Ca., LeRoy Schmitz of Spencer, and Marlin and Gary Schmitz both of Granton; three sisters; Mrs. Margaret Houpt of La Cygne, Ka., Mrs. Laura Miller of Milwaukee, Mrs. Betty Brooks of Fort Lauderdale, Fl.; one brother, Andrew Kopf of Marshfield; and 20 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Rudy Kernz, Ralph Jungbluth, Robert Lang, Robert Elmhorst, Joe Arbelovsky, Jr., and Robert Rollins.

Mrs. Frances Steiner was the organist, and Roland Sharratt served as usher.
