Berghammer, CSM-Retired Ryen G. (29 APR 1959 - 26 DEC 2017)

CSM-Retired Ryen G. Berghammer age 58 of Henagar, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at noon at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Ala., with Bro. David Hairston presiding and military honors. The family requested no flowers.

Ryen was born April 29, 1959. He was a native of Athens, and a 30 year U.S. Army military veteran. He joined the service immediately after graduating from Athens High School and retired in 2007. During his Army career he served in Germany, Alaska, Japan, Hawaii, and numerous stateside installations.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda; daughter, Kim Stattery (Nate); son, Jeffrey Berghammer (Brittany); grandchildren, Katelynn, Emily, Eric and Kaylee Slattery, Piper and Logan Berghammer; brother-in-law, Joseph Brewer; sisters, Lola Lendrum (Les), Margo Simpson, Gayle Brewer (Joe), Sue Wisnewski (Dale) and Amy Christians (Kim).

Mr. Berghammer was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Muriel Berghammer; and sister, Donna Schreiner.
