Oehlke, Amy Agnetta (Brown) (19 JUN 1923 - 4 JAN 2018)
Amy Agnetta Oehlke (Brown), aged 94, of Rice Lake (formerly Exeland), went to be
with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.
She was born on June 19, 1923 at Shady Nook Farm in Section 10 near Cumberland,
the only child of Zola Jessie Brown (Bliven) and Ed L. Brown.
Amy was the beloved wife of the late Willard Oehlke; they were married on Jan.
28, 1945 at her beloved home, Shady Nook Farm.
Amy sold greeting cards to supplement the family’s income before becoming clerk
at the Exeland Post Office. She eventually became postmaster and served in that
capacity until her retirement in 1994. After retirement, she continued to attend
many state and national postal conventions, the last being in Las Vegas, Nev. in
2007. She also delivered Meals on Wheels with Willard until 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Willard.
Amy was the loving mother of Gleness Olson, wife of Jim, of Chetek, Linda Debner,
wife of Greg, of Sylvania, Ohio; and Mark, husband of Mary, of Cumberland. She
was a much cherished grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and
1 step-great-grandchild.
Amy was known for her generous spirit, giving to local, national and
international causes and helping anyone she could. She celebrated with those who
rejoiced and comforted those who mourned, attending celebrations, graduations,
and funerals.
The Lord’s spirit of peace and joy flowed out of her like a river, even to the
end (how we loved her smile!).
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held when family and
friends can attend, date and time to be announced at a later date.
The Nash-Jackan Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
